How to create a website that works for your business: the Cherot Hotel case study

https://www.cherot.com.ua

About the project

CHEROT is a hotel and restaurant complex
on the shores of Lake Pisochne in the Volyn region. A premium holiday destination for guests from Ukraine and abroad.

Task

To create a website where visitors can plan a comprehensive holiday at CHEROT themselves
and proceed straight to booking, whilst the team can manage content and customer enquiries.

Our approach

We began work on the project not with the design, but with an analysis of the business requirements:

  • how a visitor chooses a holiday on the website

  • what services they should see on the pages

  • how the booking process works

  • how the team handles enquiries following the relaunch

That is why, from the outset, the website was built as a sales channel, rather than merely a showcase for the resort.

Identity elements

How the website helps
you make decisions more quickly

The CHEROT homepage showcases the room facilities, activities on the resort grounds, services and additional amenities, and guides visitors through the booking process.

  • The Cherot Hotel’s homepage
  • FAQs and reviews from Booking on the hotel’s website

Booking ratings, FAQs, information on accessibility and pet-friendly accommodation — all these factors highlight the hotel’s strengths when visitors are browsing the website.

Online hotel room bookings

Up to 50 per cent of CHEROT’s traffic came from Instagram, and bookings were processed manually by managers. For a hotel, this ‘dependence’ on social media creates several risks:

  • manual processing makes it difficult to track bookings

  • a blocked profile could lead to the loss of enquiries and customer contacts

  • how the team handles enquiries following the relaunch

  • changes to rules and algorithms affect the visibility of the hotel’s offers and the volume of enquiries

24/7 online booking
  • Online booking options

On the website, users can directly: select their dates and the number of guests, view available options and prices, and book a room. The data is automatically transferred to Servio CRM, where the team monitors the hotel’s occupancy and prevents double bookings on the same date.

How we improved the speed of the hotel’s website

Why does website speed affect bookings?

A guest can browse rooms whilst on the move, accessing the site via Instagram, an advert or a search engine. In every scenario, the website must operate without delays so that the customer can complete the desired action.
In developing CHEROT, we utilised the SPA (Single Page Application)  principle — the user continues to select services whilst data is updated in the background. As a result, following the relaunch, the bounce rate fell from 44.8% to 36.3%.

The mobile version
of the website —
the quickest way to book

Over 93 per cent of visitors view the hotel on a smartphone, which is why the mobile version has been designed with online booking in mind. With a single scroll, users can see the complex’s key services without having to search through the menu. This shortens the path from browsing to booking and keeps visitors engaged.

SEO optimisation of a website

SEO optimisation
of the website

If a website isn’t indexed, the business loses some of its organic search traffic, and with it — potential enquiries and bookings. Switching from WordPress to Published! gives the team greater flexibility when it comes to page structure, site speed and SEO content.
In less than two months after the relaunch, the number of active users increased by 96 per cent, and sessions by 103 per cent. CHEROT now attracts almost twice as many visitors as before the update.

  • SEO optimisation

A well-structured website makes it accessible to both search engines and screen readers. This means that visitors with visual impairments can also use CHEROT’s services — no customer is left behind due to technical barriers.

Content management

CHEROT operates on Published!
The team independently updates the pages with seasonal services, activities or new leisure options. Everything is managed via a single content management platform. This ensures the website keeps pace with actual changes at the hotel, whilst guests can view CHEROT’s latest offers.

Editing platform Published!

Content from social media can also be uploaded to the platform Published!. This ensures that it will continue to be displayed on the website’s pages, even if the post is deleted or the profile becomes inaccessible.

Multilingual support

Multilingual support

CHEROT is available in two languages — Ukrainian and English. The team also adapts content for international tourists and can add new language versions without having to redesign the website.

The website sells the entire package, rather than a single service

CHEROT offers its guests not only rooms, but also a restaurant and an events venue. Thanks to its website, the hotel can provide a comprehensive range of services to guests and increase the average spend per guest.

Activities in Cherot
  • Feedback form

To book a venue or a table, the user submits a request via the form. This information is recorded in the system Published!, and managers receive notifications via the chatbot in the messaging app. Guests enjoy a straightforward booking process, whilst the hotel team can focus on handling priority enquiries and ensuring high-quality service.

What the business gained
from the website revamp

Following its launch, the website became not just a showcase for the complex, but a fully-fledged digital channel for engaging with guests and growing the business:

  • an automated booking process via Servio CRM

  • an increase in user engagement from 55.2% to 63.7%

  • a reduction in the bounce rate from 44.8% to 36.3%

  • the ability to develop the website independently without involving developers

The Cherot Hotel team

The Cherot Hotel team

Company founder, head of department

From the outset, we wanted to create a modern, user-friendly and intuitive website that would capture the atmosphere of CHEROT, reflect our style and showcase the hotel effectively.

Throughout the process, we reviewed everything step by step — the design was refined gradually, we discussed the details, and all our requests and amendments were taken into account. We also had a lot of our own visual content that needed to be integrated properly into the website, and they handled that brilliantly too — everything looks cohesive and in keeping with the CHEROT style.
The team were always available, responded quickly to enquiries and helped us find solutions.

As a result, we’ve ended up with a website that looks professional, is more user-friendly for visitors and meets our expectations. Thank you for your cooperation!
