Customs clearance calculator

For Webex24, we developed a digital vehicle customs clearance calculator that helped users calculate the costs of importing a car and check its specifications using the VIN.

The project combined complex calculation logic, the handling of vehicle data and Webex24’s business scenario — from a preliminary estimate of import costs to the submission of an application to a manager.

Our task was to transform the complex calculation of customs duties into a simple digital tool that could be used without specialist knowledge.

Car customs clearance calculator

We developed a system for the automatic calculation of customs duties based on the vehicle’s specifications and the taxation rules in force at the time the service was operational.

The user entered the vehicle’s specifications, after which the system automatically performed the necessary calculations and displayed the estimated cost of customs clearance.

Different types of vehicles

The calculator supported calculations not only for passenger cars but also for various categories of vehicles.

• passenger cars and goods vehicles;
• tractors and semi-trailers;
• motorbikes;
• buses;
• electric vehicles.

For each category, the appropriate calculation logic was applied, allowing a single service to be used for various vehicle import scenarios.

Vehicle verification by VIN

A separate feature was the ability to check a vehicle by its VIN code.

Users could enter a vehicle’s VIN and obtain information about its specifications to compare them with the trim level and details provided by the seller.

From calculation to application

The calculator was not only an information tool but also part of Webex24’s customer acquisition process.

After completing the quote, users could immediately submit an enquiry to a sales manager and receive advice on finding, purchasing, delivering and clearing the vehicle through customs.

In this way, the digital service guided the user from independently calculating the cost to the next stage of interaction with the company.

Mobile service for car owners

The calculator was implemented as a mobile app so that users could carry out a calculation or check a vehicle by its VIN directly from their smartphone.
